Yeah, it's a bit of a change alright... Sounds like some of the support races would be louder.

In a few races no one will care...and plus...I don't buy the whole "it's not F1" because these sounds have been around before. Also, I don't think revving to 18k will help, the 80s turbos only revved to 12k. I think the sounds are so hidden now compared to before because the turbo is that much more efficient.



Perhaps it is a case of what Audi's engine guy said "noise is wasting energy"
