Bummer. If they're having trouble getting a track built in TX, imagine how hard getting paddocks built and roads resurfaced is in NJ. Unions, environmental impact studies, etc.

Montreal in '13 everyone?

I don't get it...why is F1 expanding into areas where it just makes F1 look worse. I know that Bernie is greedy but is he so stupid? I thought this was the genius that brought F1 to commercial success. This is only making F1 look terrible. Korea is no better...

Tilke and Ecclestone would gladly destroy F1 if it meant more money in their pockets.

The problem with F1 is the huge leech sucking all the money out.

Not sure Tilke is to blame...just Big Turd Bernie..Tilke is just under contract w/ FOM when they need a new track built it seems. Regardless, it's fucking stupid. That picture Case posted makes F1 look completely pathetic...

Put a luxury sport in a 3rd world country, and expect huge attendance? Only in F1Land

It can work, see brazil.

Korea should have a race - they're really emerging as a global player, have a sizable middle class, becoming a powerhouse automotively - which means a passion for motorsport should be on the rise.

No excuses for Tilke. Though turn 1 at COTA seems pretty cool; maybe he finally learned something on the 12th track?

I think Tilke gets a LOT of shit for designing bad tracks, when I think in reality, it's not entirely his fault because he has to design a track to a set of rules governed by local laws, FOM and whoever else might have a say. I think with free reign, he's actually a damn good track designer...Check out this track that Tilke just built in Atlanta...it looks amazing. http://www.atlantamo...om/the-courses/

Formula 1's teams have been told by the FIA that they cannot run trick brake systems that react to temperature to improve cooling during races, following a complaint by Red Bull.

AUTOSPORT can reveal that Red Bull wrote to motor racing's governing body ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to seek clarification on the use of thermal energy devices within the air duct of the brake system.

The team contended that attempts to use either a bimetallic strip - which would change shape to open and close off cooling ducts depending on the temperature of the brake friction material - or a thermal actuator was a breach of the regulations.

I could never be an F1 engineer... I'd never think of something like this...

Speaking of, has anyone posted the video on Drive about the Nissan Delta Wing car and how that thing works.

Shit is crazy, although it all makes sense when they way it. Skip to about 6:16 for the tech talk.

It's only cheating if its ruled illegal, otherwise it's just "innovating".
