Audi 4s off pace in first qualifying. Could be a tough weekend up ahead if they don't find more speed in the new R15 TDI Plus. So far they are even slower than the customer 908.

How is Audi so far off fucking pace? They didn't even compete in Sebring so that they could perfect their R15+...?

only thing i can think of is that the Peugoet is now has 4 years of development...
the R15 pretty much got scraped/updated on it's debut year (last year) to the R15+...
so while the 908 is tried and true at this point, the R15+ is still a new car...

The cars look totally different. Perhaps the 908 just has better aero with the closed cockpit vs R15+ with the open cockpit

they do, it was brought up before, but because of the closed cockpit, they need extra motors for the wipers and for cooling the cockpit for the drivers and a few other things... so more aero at the cost of some power

Not to mention pit stop changes, which is the main reason Audi use the open cockpit. Time in the pits adds up over 24hrs, last year it was nowhere near enough though.

Peugoet's achilies heel is running in the wet... not enough down force if i remember correctly... awesome straight line...
and looking at this weather forcast... and this quote from Q2... we might have a fight...

Interestingly, the Audi R15s had been noticeably stronger when the circuit was greasy than when it was dry on Wednesday night.

I hope TV doesn't just focus on Audi v Peugeot. I'm curious to see how the factory GT2 Vettes hold up against the FIA GT1 Vettes.

so i'm watching quali 2, and the eurosport guys are saying that Audi has tons of downforce and have way higher corner speeds compared to the 908's in the wet...

wonder if they're going for a gamble in setup...

I thought the GT1 class was dropped in the LeMans Series??

Apparently the ACO changed the rules this year so only 2 mechanics can work on the car in a pit stop, which totally fucks Audi. If this is a straight fight, the frogs are going to win.
