F1's demands do seem unreasonable.

However, the COTA is a cluster, and the whole thing is stupidly convoluted for no good reason.

#F1 Spoke to Bernie about COTA's counter offer, he didn't sound too impressed. People don't usually send him back rewritten contracts...

I'm not getting my hopes up for a race in TX next year...

it was down to the last rally... 8 points between Loeb and Mikko...
Mikko's engine failed day one
Loeb crashed out on the road section between stages day two

It would've been a 3 man fight on the last rally, but Ogier had engine failure the rally before while leading that put him just out of contention.. it would've been 3 people within 8 points...

and DDA, I torrent the rally's... ESPN in Europe had 30 minute daily coverage + power stage coverage... so it's 4 downloads, 2 on the last day...

A head on with a tourist, no less.

So...Kimi's racing for Renault for two years.

How long before he throws in the towel?

It should be good to watch 6 World Champs racing at once though.

Driver on the downhill paired with a team on the downhill.

Makes sense, I suppose.

I'd actually be worried by Kimi's return...I have a feeling he's a lot hungrier now. Although his WRC stint might say something about his desire (or lack of), but I think that might've only been because he wanted back into F1...

Also funny how much Alonso is handling Massa, while Kimi couldn't. :o

also funny how Kimi won the title first year at Ferrari while Alonso's has been 2nd and 4th in the championship :o
additionally funny how Kimi is the only ferrari driver to win the title in the past 7 seasons

and before you say "only cause Massa moved over"... I do remember last year a certain radio transmission along the lines of "Alonso is faster than you... do you understand"...

I love Raikkonen... I am really excited to hear he is coming back! I think things will be different, he was actually away for awhile and i imagine time away grew his desire to compete and win. He certainly doesnt need the money, so it has to be for other reasons, i doubt it is to be a midfielder. His issues with F1 weren't with racing, it was everything ELSE that surrounded the events. I think in the right circumstances, he will come back and do well. the racing right now is awesome, the good drivers really shine. with a good car, he could do really well. this signing should really motivate the lotus factory as well, kimi will look good in black :coold:

im curious to know the value of his contract. i think that will tell us a little bit about his desires

It was bullshit both times.

Alonso and Hamilton were both more deserving of the championship in 07.

You could also say that Massa was more deserving in '08. Fact is rarely do people remember who was more 'deserving'. There is no championship for effort

pre & post spring-to-face massa are not the same driver.

He is now better in the rain, but much slower in every other condition.

Massa's accident is a convenient excuse for Kimi apologists, we see how he does next year :mamoru:

Not apologizing for kimi...he was nowhere near the driver from 2008+. Massa simply isn't a good measuring stick.

Ferrari had Kimi move for Massa in 08 just like Massa moved for Alonso and Kimi in other years.

I can only remember one time in 2008 when Hekki let Lewis through, and it was a pretty huge speed differential at the time.

I was thinking the fuel hose gaffe at SG. But anyway, Im just saying that this ain't grade school. No points awarded for effort.

And Hamilton had the DNF in China due to the team leaving him out on the wets too long.

Bad luck and being gifted positions from your teammate are different.

Are you really comparing Kimi to Massa? In terms of raw speed, c'mon...Kimi was the closest challenger to Schumi back in the day. The guy, stepped out of a handful of car races and scored points when he hopped into a Sauber. He's easily a match for the top drivers in F1...really, you just gotta keep his motivation up and you've got someone that will challenge/race Alonso/LH/Button/Vettel. Suzuka comes to mind when he came from last to first...back in the era when it was impossible to pass...
