What a race. I wish we could have seen vettel make up those spots after the spin...he was backwards in one shot and 6th in the next.

Still bummed for Fred, he may not have another shot until '14 though.

Sigh, the speed guys. Lives the look back, loved that they were maybe even a little bit meaner to each other this weekend. Super happy to hear Hobbes and matchett are going to NBC. Buxton isn't officially announced yet, but rumor has it they are signing him for f1 and indie, hence the more complicated and delayed contract. About the best possible outcome, but I will still miss varsha.

"It is a shame because, after such a long season that we really fight in all conditions, we raced 18 races and not 20..... "Watch the facts," he said. "Zero points in two races so we have done what we have done with 18 races. The others had 20 – and the points were over 20 races. These are facts, not words."

Except for the fact that Vettel also only finished 18 of the races as well :hsugh:

Vettel - 10 podiums, 17 point finishes, 18 total finishes
Alonso - 13 podiums, 18 point finishes, 18 total finishes

Yeap... Alonso was held back

Alonso was held back by a car that was a top 3 car, not a top 2 car. 3 wins in 4 races is what happens when a Newey car is on form.

Awesome race, awesome season. RBR did everything they could to give it to Alonso, but it just wasn't happening.

Sucks about both Hulk and Hamilton. Wanted to see Hamilton go out as the #1 McLaren driver, and I think Hulk may have actually won the race after it swung back to wet conditions. That drive-through was too harsh.

That was serious hindsight on the FIA...sometimes shit happens, you shouldn't penalize everyone for making a bold move. Granted when it's done on purpose (like pushing them to the wall) then yeah...but the FIA needs to look at how they're applying penalties.

IMO Vettel was more in the wrong on coming down on Senna than Hulk was in making contact with Hamilton.

I feel like such a loser looking at Vettel's pic. I was just a snot-nosed HS kid in 99. Now he's 3x WDC while I'm still just snot-nosed! :wtc:

:ugh: let it go and concentrate on next year, I can't in a million years imagine Fred or any other driver would want to win a chip that way.

Article 174 (d) of the International Sporting Code makes this clear (emphasis added):

Protests against any error or irregularity occurring during a competition, referring to the non-compliance of vehicles with the regulations and concerning the classification established at the end of the event shall, except in circumstances which the stewards of the meeting consider as physically impossible, be made within thirty minutes of the official publication of the results.

Looks like it is out of the hands of Ferrari anyways. Just down to the FIA:

The only way this can be investigated now is if the FIA chooses to do so. Again the International Sporting Code explains the procedure (article 179bis Right of Review):

If, in events forming part of a FIA Championship, a new element is discovered, whether or not the stewards of the meeting have already given a ruling, these stewards of the meeting or, failing this, those designated by the FIA, must meet on a date agreed amongst themselves, summoning the party or parties concerned to hear any relevant explanations and to judge in the light of the facts and elements brought before them. [...]

The period during which an appeal in review may be brought expires on 30 November of the year during which the decision that is liable to review has been handed down, if that decision is likely to have an effect on the result of a championship.

After tomorrow it becomes a moot point :x:

Whatt a race...it was so draining to watch emotionally. At the start i was like Holy shit!! But Vettel being just as tough as Alonso managed to get all those places back. Great job by Vettel...he did what he had to do. But I really do feel for Alonso. That stare from Alonso was heart wrenching for me at the end...That's twice now that he has been robbed.

He really needs a better car from Ferrari. And with no rules changes, Ferrari better get it right. What he did in the dog slow Ferrari was just staggering.

And boy has Massa earned his keep these past few races. Well done to massa too.

I'm happy that Button won it though!

I know this is not really relavent, but Ferrari has been shit ever since Alonso arrived.

But what that does illustrate is that when Ross Brawn left Ferrai, he took their dominance along with him.

If Ross was the sole reason for their success, then Mercedes would be dominant.

Ferrari is shit bc they started hiring Italians again to do everything...Aldo Costa replaced Brawn and Stefano Domenicalli replaced Todt at Ferrari when MS left. They've been in shambles since, lol.

I do agree with that to a certain extent, but they've come within spitting distance of 2 chips over the past 3 years - 3/5 if you include '08.

McLaren hasn't done a whole hell of a lot lately either. I suppose you can blame that on the Dennis/Whitmarsh transition, but it seems too coincidental that both Ferrari and Macca would be mediocre at the same time.

Ferrari hasn't gone to total shit, RBR has just been better than everyone since the 2nd half of 2010.
