wasn't massa penalized the next race too?

For the fuel hose incident? Not that I remember.

Edit: in Japan Massa spun Hamilton, which got Massa a drive-through. Didn't matter, as he later hit Bourdais and took himself out of all but 1 point anyway.

And Hamilton had the DNF in China due to the team leaving him out on the wets too long.

Bad luck and being gifted positions from your teammate are different.

You say it like Hamilton didn't have a choice in the matter...

Are you really comparing Kimi to Massa? In terms of raw speed, c'mon...Kimi was the closest challenger to Schumi back in the day. The guy, stepped out of a handful of car races and scored points when he hopped into a Sauber. He's easily a match for the top drivers in F1...really, you just gotta keep his motivation up and you've got someone that will challenge/race Alonso/LH/Button/Vettel. Suzuka comes to mind when he came from last to first...back in the era when it was impossible to pass...

that year in Suzuka was my favorite race of all time...

I don't buy into that fastest driver on earth hype. Even Schumi picked Fred to be his successor back in 02. And why isn't Massa faster than Kimi on raw pace? He's had more poles during their time together.

Raw pace vs complete package are two totally different things. Kimi is def. not the perfect driver for every team. He hates sponsors, hates interviewing, and he loves partying. But if it weren't for the fragility of the McLarens, he would've been a WDC with McLaren for sure. For awhile there, he was the only one challenging the Ferrari/Schumacher package until Alonso matured in the Renault.

So you'd drive into your pit stall when there was no one there?

Makes sense...

Decent writeup on the differences the drivers adapted to the new tires, and why Vettel used it to be so dominant.

I love Kimi but no driver has come back from a lay off and been at the same level as when they left. Add in all the changes to the cars and the different tires and I think Kimi is in for a steep learning curve.

Man, if only these drivers had radios in their cars...he could have told the team he needed new tires.

IIRC, he did. They told him to stay out, waiting on weather or something.

edit: yea, drying track, waiting for dry tires
