I dunno if Hekki would honestly move to a faster team if it meant he had to be a #2. He seems to really enjoy having his input really reflect in the car's design and whatnot from the interviews he's had the last two seasons.

So where's he gonna go? Maybe FI after diresta moves to mercedes?

Santander was a 5 year deal starting in '09.

small chance (with a US style bailout) they can get their books back in shape to extend the relationship, but I bet '13 is the last year for santander. Makes a perez promotion seem that much more likely.

Petrov to Ferrari, Lada has already had tie-ups with FIAT before.

Perhaps. Or to Sauber when Perez moves up to Ferrari. Although I wouldn't be super surprised if he just stayed at Caterham. As long as they're making forward progress, he seems pretty content.

Side note: I'm not too sure there's going to be a seat at Mercedes, with Michael's improved form and Nico's 'up and coming' status.

Nico has been up and coming since 2006.

MS needs to kind of go...I hate to say this but he's "average" at best at this point. He's no better than Nico, but no worse. He's the best of the rest...but he's def. had some bad luck this year. Perez & DiR I feel like could do better...

Aside from the one race when the merc won, the car has been a dog. I'm not sure it's fair to put the blame on Nico or Michael

Hymen Algishwari says he is pretty sure to be back next year with a decent team, thoughts?

His points thus far in the season don't really reflect his abilities. He's had more mechanicals and times being run into than anyone else thus far. He had 5 retirements in the first 7 races. That's even worse than Maldanado.

Baselessly optimistic.

There's too many drivers and not enough seats. No one is slated to retire, or even drop from the front teams (despite Massa needing to), which will cause the midfield and even backmarkers to stagnate..... assuming the pay drivers keep those checks flowing.

To be fair, Button was 'up and coming' from 2000 to 2009. :o

As much as I like Button, he got lucky...any other driver's career would've been cut short way before that.

He's been slowly improving from the moment he came back. For the last 3 races he's been doing a better job than Nico.

Interesting article on how RBR is becoming the new Ferrari in terms of FIA leniency.

I thought Santander already announced they were quitting F1 after *this* season? Probably wrong, but I remember reading something about a month ago.

All the Lewis hate on this page. Anyone who thinks he would've been shoved out of Mclaren even if he had the same year as last year is bonkers. I will not be surprised if he moves to Ferrari. Does fred have a no-go clause? Possibly. But it doesn't sound very Ferrari like. I mean Michael didn't even have that. If it is there, I bet it was only for a short time.

Ferrari already had a raw-talent-head-case, and they fired him for Fred.

That rumor makes no sense...other than driving for Ferrari, there's no reason to go to them right now...McLaren & RB are faster teams overall.

No seats at McLaren or RB would be one.

He's faster than Massa.

So's perez, and he won't piss of nando. So's heidfeld. So's Heikki. So's Glock. Shit, Coultard would probably be quicker than Massa.

I'm confident that Narain Gherkin and Yuji Ide are the only drivers siginificantly worse than Masser. :hs:
