Kimi got dis.
Vettel slices through from pit lane for a podium.

Anyone else in Austin for the GP? We're about to head downtown and check out Will Buxton's event.

So will we lose the 6 slowest cars out of the 18 in the first stage?

Buxton's party was pretty cool. Leigh, David, and Steve all showed up and spoke. Bob Varsha was in attendance as well.
Marcus Erricson, Alexander Rossi, Luca Fillipi, and Mario Andretti all made appearances.
The Road to Mercedes was a fun little film. If you saw Road to Ferrari you know what to expect.

Bout to head to the track for practice today. :wiggle:

Just got back from the track.
We set up at turn 19 today. It was decent. Might go there again tomorrow, but will definitely want to check and see if the esses offer any better action. Might try turn 1 as well, although it fills up quick from what we saw.

I have a new respect for Matt LeBlanc, that guy is at more F1 and MotoGP races than anyone....

So how's the sound IRL? Bad or just different?

...it's not the same. It's different and not that bad honestly... Just not mind numbingly unique. It's pretty quiet and you can hear the announcer the entire time to give you an idea on volume. You can hear tire squeals and the riding of the curb. Also, the difference each engine sounds like too. 4/10. V8s would be 8.5/10 for me. Never heard the V10s which I consider the holy grail of modern F1 sounds.

That's what I wrote on FB yesterday...But with a good night's sleep, I can say that they were pretty boring to listen to overall.

Not a fan of the sound. The Ferrari Challenge and Porsche Supercup cars sounded better. :o

The Ferrari engined cars especially had a very odd sound coming back on power through turn 19. Almost like a dubstep bass-drop. :ugh:

Maybe it's because I'm now old, or have heard the old cars numerous times over, but I didn't mind the new sound.

I liked the difference in engines, as well as the ability to hear the cars doing things like riding the curbs, and the Ferrari's bottoming out as they cut Turn 9's apex.

Then again, my first race was the traction controlled V10s, which were totally nuts...
